KLARITAS VOCAL ENSEMBLE
Founded in 2018 in Toronto by Artistic Director Erika Yost, classical a cappella group “Klaritas Vocal Ensemble” takes its name from the Latin word “claritas”, which means clarity, vividness and splendour. We try to bring all of these qualities to our singing, whether we are performing sacred music, new works written especially for us, or the folk music of our beloved Latvia. Currently singing in Klaritas are: Skaidrīte Leja, Krista Amoliņa, Erika Yost, Vaira Gertners and Ruta Lauzis.
Our Next Concert! November 30, 2024, 4 pm
at St. John’s Lutheran Latvian Church
With Joyful Voices! A fundraising Christmas concert to help with musical equipment upgrades at the church. We will be joined by bass Marc McNamara, as well as pianists Brahm Goldhamer and Helena Gintere, and Aleks Spurmanis, guitar. Admission is by donation, with a suggested $20 minimum. Join us for Holiday favourites in Latvian and English, from ancient celtic melodies to contemporary jazz numbers.
Klaritas in rehearsal
We are grateful to Saint Andrew’s Evangelical Latvian Lutheran Church and Saint John’s Lutheran Latvian Church for allowing us to rehearse in their Church. It is vital to our musical work to have access to such quality acoustics.
Seeking two more singers
We are currently hoping to expand our group with the addition of one First Soprano and one Second Alto voice. Our ideal number is 6 to 8 singers, giving us greater choice of vocal repertoire. Please contact me for an audition if you are interested in joining us!
